I have never been to Wanaka before.  What should I do?

Wanaka has a lot to offer all guests, no matter your interests of experience.  Our onsite Concierge, George Smythe is happy to pre-arrange sightseeing before you arrive, or by providing assistance during your visit.  Please contact George directly on email.  Or meet George in person in our lobby area during your stay.

Do you arrange transportation from Wanaka Bus Terminal?

Yes! But you need to tell us your details at the time of making your room reservation.  This is a complimentary service for guests staying at Edgewater.

Do you arrange transportation from Queenstown Airport?

We can recommend and arrange transportation from Queenstown International Airport to Edgewater.  Direct drive time is approximately 1 hour.   Transfer charges apply.  We also offer guests the service of helicopter transfer between Queenstown International Airport and Edgewater directly.  There is a heli-landing area at Edgewater.

Are there any discounts available for group bookings?

Please call reservations directly on 0800 108 311 or via email ( to discuss your needs. Group benefits are offered depending on the size of the group and duration of stay.

Is Wi-fi available and what is the cost?

Wi-fi is available at Edgewater, both in the rooms and in the lounge/restaurant areas. 

All in-house guests recieve one free Wi-Fi card per room which is valid for the duration of your stay.  This can only be used on one device at a time and has data limits.  Additional Wi-Fi can be purchased from reception.  A complimentary networked computer is available for use in the reception area for guests. 

What ways can I pay my account at Edgewater?

We accept payment by  Mastercard and Visa, EFTPOS, debit card and NZ dollar cash.    Foreign currency is not accepted but can be exchanged at banks within Wanaka, which are open during business hours Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings.

Payments made by Mastercard and Visa will incur a surcharge of 1.5%.  We do not accept AMEX, JCB, Union Pay and Cheques.

What is the check-in and check-out time?

Check in time is 2pm (1400) with departure by 11am (1100) .

Room service is available to all our suite and apartment guests from 7.00am to 9.30pm, and at other times by prior arrangement.

How close is the nearest supermarket/grocery store?  Can I walk there?

The nearest grocery store is a 5 minute drive or 25 minutes stroll via the lakefront walkway.  It is a ‘New World’ branded supermarket and is well stocked.

How much does it cost to hire bikes or kayaks?

Edgewater has kayaks and bikes on site available for hire.  Safety equipment is provided as well.  Half day hire for the bikes is $30.00 and kayaks $38.00.

Does Edgewater provide robes in the rooms?

All suites and apartments have dressing robes for guest use while staying.

Are there irons and ironing boards in rooms?

Yes, irons and ironing boards are provided.

Are there in-room safes?

For peace of mind all rooms are equipped with in room safes.

What is included in the kitchenette facilities in suites and apartments?

For guests in suites and apartment rooms kitchenette facilities include a microwave oven, two hobs for cooking, crockery and cutlery plus a small selection of pots, bowls, and general kitchen items.

When is brunch served?

Brunch is served in the Wineglass Cafe daily from 10am to 3pm.  Check out the current brunch menu here.

When is dinner served?

The dinner menu becomes available from 5pm in the Wineglass Cafe. 

What other dining options are there?

Throughout the day, in the Wineglass Cafe we have great coffee and light snacks, such as our made to order scones. (10am - 5pm)

What is for breakfast and where is it served?

Breakfast is served from 7am until 10am every morning in Sargoods Restaurant, just past reception.  It is a full buffet breakfast including both hot and continental options. 

Are there guest laundry services?

For guests in suites or apartments, your room has a washing machine and dryer in your bathroom.  For guests in our hotel/studio rooms you are welcome to use the laundry in '2 block' and '6 block'.
