New Zealand's finest sheep dogs will be put through their paces at the National Sheep Dog Trials being held this week in Wanaka (28/29 May).
About 300 farmers and their dogs will compete at the week long event located at Alpha Burn Station at Glendhu Bay.
According to organiser Vicki McRae, "All four courses are quite close together, so that's handy for spectators".
Meanwhile the New Zealand Sheep Dog Trial Association will hold their AGM at Edgewater .
The first sheep dog trial in the world is believed to have been held in Wanaka in June 1869 and a statue will be unveiled this week celebrates this historical connection.
